What Gets to Me (5.5.20)
What gets to me?
It wasn't the 200-foot Aussie-rappel down a skyscraper in BGC.
It wasn't getting sucked into the raging waters of Tuasan from 60-feet up.
It wasn't the vessel boarding maneuvers with the NAVSOG or saving a PA who fell into the drink or going 40 knots on a Navy RHIB.
It wasn't the prospect of getting shot in a hot zone in Mindanao or trying to fix a roof while Typhoon "Milenyo" was unleashing its fury on Metro Manila.
It wasn't when I hung by a thread due to heat exhaustion during a training exercise with the Light Armor Division.
Years ago, when I was just a pile of raging angst, a friend described to me how one person actually "lived". I promised myself that I would go the same path—that I would do my best not to pass up on anything.
