The Pillow 5: Her Color was Green

The roar a an airliner brought him back to planet earth. He was as far away from her as he could possibly be. He took one last drag from the cigarette and a final sip of cold coffee, mindful that there was work to be done and a deadline to meet. As he was stubbing out the ciggy, his eyes catch a structure on a hilltop and his thoughts drift back to the woman in red...

Her favorite color was green.

She was never demonstrative of her affection towards him. She would never even hold his hand when anyone else was around but he knew she felt for him. He knew there was a feeling deep down. They had been together earlier that day. Before going home that night, she wanted to see some friends so he agreed to accompany her but she told him she would be getting off the bus and he should go on ahead, straight home. He resigned himself to another lonely night without her.

His phone rang. He was pleasantly surprised she would call albeit at such a late hour. She asked him if he wanted to meet. He found no reason not to. They agreed to meet at the all-night fastfood place. She was in a green blouse and skimpy shorts. He thought he was dreaming but a peck in the cheek told him it was for real!

As if to double the surprise, she asked him if she could spend the night at his place. To say, he was overcome with joy was quite an understatement. He was fumbling with the keys when they finally got to the door. As soon as they walk in, he cradles her on his lap and starts kissing her tenderly. There was no point in conversation. There was a need to be fulfilled.

They cuddled in the darkness with only the light of a laptop screen illuminating the room. There was a Fleetwood Mac song playing. They were as quiet as they could ever be.
