In the classic film, "Bladerunner", Rutger Hauer's character describes a life no mortal will ever see—a candle emitting twice the brightness but burning only half as long.
In the time I've pulled duty as a medic, I see how people choose to shine half as brightly for the sake of longevity. Where's the fun in that, seriously?
On the other side of the wire, there are those who intentionally ignore the luminescence and yet, grieve or regret not having seen the light when it was on.
Or maybe, they simply don't think they're good enough for the "Luminous Ones".
Maybe, not you...
I look forward to the day I tame you and have you eat from my hand, like a perrigrine. You are unlike the ordinary pets kept in fancy cages with wings clipped. You are as free as the blue sky and much more difficult to clutch.
Yes, I am that Nexus 6 "replicant" on the roof. Will you home in on me and perch on my arm or will all those memories be lost like tears shed in rain?
