Contrary to popular belief, I think 2020 is a great year!

It's really a matter of perspective—how or what you perceive as great. If you're caught up in the material and temporal, you're really screwed!

Prior to 2020, life was mostly challenging. In the last quarter of 2019,I've learned to make do with what was left of my life, and there was very little in terms of tangible currency. I have already mastered the Art of Gratitude—thanking the universe that I was alive, with a roof over my head, clothes on my back and family (both blood and affinity).

2020 is a Great Year because now, the Earth is rejuvinated! There might not be any monetary value in that but really, if the Earth were dead then so, we will be!

I started the year off responding to a couple of fires, relief operations during the Taal eruption, and most of my waking days were spent in the EMS realm. Suddenly, I realized that I possessed a skill that is worth more than any of my other talents. At no point in the history of mankind has the medical community been more essential! Like everyone, I am uncertain as to how long the ECQ will last. I am only thankful that the world is still intact and that my own projections about an impending doom have all but been allayed if not, delayed.

In the last 40 days, I have affirmed what I've known all through my adult life—that our stay on this patch of land is all but fleeting, and that what really matters are within us or do not have a corresponding peso value: FAMILY, FRIENDS, THE ENVIRONMENT and LIFE!

I am seeing on a daily basis how we can all be snuffed out in a blink of an eye, whether that be by natural causes or inflicted by another individual. It's a crazy world out there and I face that prospect every single day.

These are the cards we've been dealt. You can either play or just leave the table.

2020 doesn't suck. Maybe YOU do!
