Tonight's run is particularly special—the patient was a brother firefighter who's served the community well over the decades. I may be new to the EMS world but I am thankful that early on, the value of camaraderie is well-entrenched into the core of my being.
This concept of brotherhood is not alien. I have been a part of other flocks in the past: the media, the shooting community, airsoft pioneers, tv/film production, photojournalists and a few more loose bands of artists and musicians. I know that it's always the man next to you that matters.
For many, a job is a means to an end. In the FIRE/EMS realm, the reward is the gratitude of those we serve and those we serve with. This is not a job one does for money. This is giving in to passion in its pure, unadulterated form!
